Orangewood Christian School Named Apple Distinguished School

ORANGEWOOD CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

NAMED APPLE DISTINGUISHED SCHOOL

Maitland, Florida – October 3, 2022 - Orangewood Christian School is pleased to announce that it has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2022-2025 for its innovative iLearn@OCS program that is deployed in K4-12thgrades. The iLearn@OCS program is founded on 3 pillars that guide its vision for technology implementation:

1.     Consistency

2.     Reliability

3.     Safety

All OCS iPads are outfitted with a Rugged keyboard, an Apple Pencil to ensure engagement for all apps and a first-in-class content filter that ensures all devices are safe on and off campus no matter where their learning occurs.

In addition, iLearn@OCS has brought new technology to its Digital Publishing Lab with the addition of the brand new Mac Studios. Now, students in Orangewood’s Yearbook, Journalism, Photography, and Video Production classes have direct access to professional tools that allow real-time rendering and highly graphic-intensive workflows for projects without noticing any lag or pixelation.

Apple Distinguished Schools are centers of innovation, leadership, and educational excellence. They use Apple technology to inspire creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking in learning, teaching, and the school environment and have documented results of academic accomplishment.

Orangewood’s Head of School, Dr. Allyn Williams, shares, “One of our responsibilities to the Orangewood families we serve is providing their children with safe, reliable, and market-leading instructional tools which will further enhance student learning success inside and beyond the classroom. Our conscience shift from a Bring-Your-Own-Device to an all-Apple school has been a very positive move for Orangewood, yet this is just the beginning of how we plan to leverage future technology and innovative learning to prepare students.” We’re thankful for our partnership with Apple.” (Delete…can’t refer to “partnership” with Apple)

The selection of Orangewood Christian School as an Apple Distinguished School highlights our success as an innovator with a compelling learning environment that engages students and provides tangible evidence of academic achievement. Students and teachers use an iPad and Macbook Pro comprehensively throughout the day as an overall educational tool, as well as for content creation and creative learning.

Orangewood Christian Schools introduced their new High School and Middle School eSports programs last year. The Innovation Lab has been outfitted with Mac Pros and Asus Arog 360 Hz monitors which provide world-class specifications for eSports gamers where refresh rates, graphics cards, and ping time dominate a gamer’s decisions for equipment used in the sport.

These are just some of the extraordinary benefits of being an Apple Distinguished School, with the hope of implementing 3D printing, AR/VR asset creation, and Computer Science tracks in the future.

The announcement and celebration of the Apple Distinguished School designation will take place over two days. On Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at 10:19 am, a formal announcement will take place in the Upper School chapel, located at 1300 W. Maitland Blvd, Maitland, Florida. The less-formal announcement for the Lower School will take place the day before on Monday, November 14, 2022, at 8:30 am, in the Media Center, located at 1221 Trinity Woods Lane, Maitland, Florida.
