Lower School Talent Needed for Peter Pan! Space is limited, so sign up TODAY!

The OCS Theatre Department is looking for students between 2nd and 5th grade to be part of our Peter Pan cast! Rehearsal dates are minimal, but all dates are mandatory. The first three rehearsals, on Feb 10, Feb 14, and Feb 17, will be held at the Lower School. Tech rehearsals with the full cast on Feb 24 and March 2 will take place on the Upper Campus. If your student requires transportation to the Upper Campus for tech rehearsal on February 24th, please complete the attached Form Stack ( to ride the Ram Tram. There are a limited number of Ram Tram seats, so the first 14 to turn in the Form Stack will be able to use this option (we will notify the first 14 via email). No Ram Tram changes will be allowed after the first rehearsal on February 10. If we do not receive a Form Stack, or you apply too late, your student must be transported to the Upper School by a Parent/Guardian.

Performance dates are March 4 - 6. There is an activity fee of $30 made payable to OCS and can be given to the Lower School Front Desk. Click Here for the full details, Participation Permission Slip, and T-shirt order forms. Please forward all questions to Dana Drake at 407-417-7086 or at

Rescheduled parent workshop: Understanding Your Child's Behavior - Wednesday, Feb. 16th - 8:15 - 9:30 am, in the Lower School Media Center

Join Breane Whiting, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, to learn how you can use behavior analysis (ABA) to help your child and family work through life's daily challenges.  ABA uses evidence-based strategies to help set up systems of reinforcement for skills you would like to see happening more often, as well and strategies to use to reduce behavior you would like to see discontinued.  You will receive a framework for understanding your child's behavior, why it's happening, and how to help in difficult moments.  Also, learn tools to help reduce and support anxiety that often accompanies difficult behavior.  This course will provide both direct instruction as well as an open forum at the end to discuss specific questions against the framework provided.

Breane Whiting is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Exceptional Student Education from Florida Atlantic University.  She completed her final specialization coursework in behavior analysis from Florida Institute of Technology.  Breane brings over 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults with varying disabilities and behavioral concerns in crisis units, clinics, home, and school settings.  She is passionate about providing individualized, function-based support geared to the needs of the learner, family, and the setting.  Providing families with the tools, resources, knowledge, and a framework to help their children drives her practice. She enjoys collaborating with caregivers, teachers, and treatment teams to ensure the best and most comprehensive support is provided.  Please register with this LINK (limit of 30 parents).

Cold Weather Clothing

On cold weather days, students should dress warmly following dress code guidelines. Jeans are not permitted to be worn on cold weather days, except Spirit Days. Leggings under shorts/skirts should be a solid color with no graphics. Students may wear any size appropriate OCS sweatshirt or size appropriate solid-color, polartec fleece jacket, cardigan, pullover style sweater or sweatshirt over the top of their uniform approved shirt. Any other logo other than the OCS logo may not exceed 2X2 inches in size. The material, including any pockets, collars or trim must be the same solid color. The inside of the hood, the zipper or logo can be a different solid color. Solid color may also be heathered monochromatic (contain or only use one color). However, two-colored heathered items are not permitted, ie: black with white. Plain solid matching hoods are permitted as outerwear as long as the hood is not worn inside and does not have animals and/or distracting features attached to the hood. This gives our students a unified look, especially when we have guests on campus. Hats may only be worn outside during cold weather and not be worn in the building during the school day at any time. ****Please label all outerwear with the student’s name, so that it may be returned to them when lost.

New Front Desk Check In at Lower School

OCS has installed new Visitor Management Systems at both campuses. This system ensures accurate visitor records and increases front desk efficiency. Visitors simply sign in using an iPad and Visitu will take care of the rest — including badge printing and running offender checks. All visitors will be asked to bring their driver’s license in when they check into either office.

Volunteers | Link

In order to volunteer at Orangewood, you must be fingerprinted and have a background check completed. Please follow the link for the directions to make an online appointment and to print and complete the waiver. Please return the signed waiver to either Orangewood campus. See link for instructions.
