Makeup picture day is October 6

We will have our school portrait photographer on both campuses to photograph students who were absent on the first Picture Day (Aug. 24) or for those who ordered a photo package and are not happy with the portraits. Everyone who needs to have a picture taken will be called out of class during the day.

For those who were absent or not yet enrolled: Every student needs to be photographed to be included in our school’s yearbook. For those who would like to order the school picture, order forms are located at each school office and attached to this email. This completed form and payment should be given to the photographer on Picture Retake Day. Portraits may also be ordered beforehand online at SWIPHOTO.COM/PICTURES with school code 60061QA.

For those who previously ordered a portrait package but want a replacement portrait: Your student must return the first package before receiving a new package.  Have them bring the package to school on Wednesday and give to the portrait photographer.

Students should wear dress code shirts.  Anyone wearing a hoodie will be asked to remove it for the photo.

Incredible Kid Day - October 20 Shh!!! Please keep this secret from the students.

The United States Senate voted to designate October 20, as the National Day of Writing. We at OCS will be celebrating this day in various ways. Our goal is for students to see themselves as writers and to experience different purposes, audiences and occasions for writing that will occur throughout their lifetime.

One way you can support this writing goal is to help us recognize your child as an Absolutely Incredible Kid made in the image of God. We are requesting that you write your child(ren) a letter telling  each child in your family how very special he/she is to God and to you. We are asking for your letter to be placed in a sealed envelope addressed directly to your child by name. Then this sealed letter should be placed inside another envelope addressed to the child's classroom teacher and again sealed. We are requesting that you complete the letter and submit this to the classroom teacher or front office no later than Wednesday, October 13th. This may also be emailed to Laura Palmquist at with the subject “Incredible Kid Day” and your child’s name. We will print them and give them to the teacher.  If grandparents, aunts, uncles or neighbors wish to join in this spirit of letter writing and encouragement to your child, please feel free to email, or pass this message along. Letters written to the school specifically for your child should be addressed to:

The teacher’s name, Orangewood Christian School, 1221 Trinity Woods Lane, Maitland, FL 32751.

We are hoping that each child will receive at least one letter of encouragement which will be delivered on October 20th, to their classroom. Therefore, if you have a desire to send along an extra letter addressed merely to an Absolutely Incredible Kid we will also hand deliver those to children, who may not have received a letter.

Research shows that simple words of encouragement can make a difference in a child's life. In addition, your child may save this very special letter and reread it later when he/she needs to be reminded of your love and encouragement and God’s purpose for his/her life.

Please keep this special writing assignment a secret from your child. What a great celebration October 20th will be here at OCS!
