Mr. Jermel Jones is a man of faith, discipline, and purpose, shaped by where he came from and the game that helped raise him. He's a Jacksonville native who grew up around football, played the game at the high school level, and learned early how sports can either derail you or discipline you, depending on the guidance you receive. Those experiences: on the field, in the classroom, and in real life, are what ultimately led him into ministry and coaching. As a pastor, coach, and father, he believes his calling is to pour into young men the structure, accountability, and belief that he once needed himself. He coaches the same way he lives: firm but loving, demanding but supportive, always pointing back to faith, character, and purpose beyond football. His goal is to help young men become grounded, responsible leaders who understand where they come from, who they are, and where God is calling them next.

Through that ministry and his family's and church's ministry, he grew to love the Lord and desired to serve Him. He attended the University of South Florida and got involved in the Baptist Collegiate Ministries, where he served as a Ministry Intern for two years. After college, he felt called to attend Seminary at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, where he spent three years as a full-time student while working at his home church as a Pastoral Intern. During that time, he began coaching football and felt God calling him to the field and classroom instead of the pulpit. He began coaching in 2017 and started full-time teaching in January 2020 as an 11th-grade upper school History teacher. After that year, he accepted a job to teach Bible and Praise and Worship Arts at a private Christian school. Since then, he has taught World Geography, 7th-11th Grade Bible, and Praise and Worship Arts. He continues to serve in multiple ministries at church alongside his ministry at Orangewood. He loves coaching, as it provides an opportunity to grow and develop relationships and use sports as a ministry for the Gospel.
