School Counseling
At Orangewood Christian School
We are forging a path to your next chapter. Preparing you for the academic rigors of college and supporting you in the college admission process from the moment you set foot on campus.
College Lunch Schedule
On Campus Visits
During lunch on select days we offer students an opportunity to meet with college representatives from major Universities both in the state of Florida and around the country.
College Swag
On Fridays during the fourth quarter, seniors are allowed to dress in college gear and show their school spirit for any college or university they have been accepted.
Summer Camps
High school students are invited to sign up to attend various college campus tours. Additionally, rising seniors are invited to get a jump on college applications and essay writing.
Social Emotional
Our counselors provide safe, nonjudgmental spaces where students feel comfortable to open up. They focus on listening and building trust so students feel safe to vent, process, and work through whatever is on their minds.
Conversations with students are always Christ-focused, gently reminding them of the perfect wisdom the Bible offers them when dealing with whatever may be bothering them. Typically, their peers, family/home issues, worries, classwork, future goals and anxieties.
Counselors try to include spiritual insights into discussions in a way that feels natural and supportive. They pray with students, typically after their conversations. While they want to validate their experiences, they also guide them not to focus too much on their feelings and emotions alone, but to consider their actions and choices from a faith perspective.
Jessica Underwood
As our school counselor, Jessica Underwood offers social-emotional care providing a safe and supportive environment for students to share their concerns. Integrating a Christ-centered focus into counseling sessions, she naturally weaves in biblical wisdom and offers prayer to provide spiritual guidance and encouragement. She delivers a yearly presentation on boundaries, emphasizing the importance of healthy, respectful relationships. She also helps 8th grade students prepare for the transition to high school by delivering a "Rising 9th Grade" presentation used to encourage and set expectations for our high school students.
Barb More
As the academic and college advisor, Barb More serves as a primary resource for students in academic advising and academic support. She holistically guides students to plan, learn, reflect, and engage in the world in ways appropriate for their educational path, career, and personal development. Additionally, she serves as a key member of the academic support team providing targeted assistance with academic success coaching and support as needed. She also serves as a resource and mentor throughout the college exploration and application process.
RAMS confidently engage with the ever-changing world ahead.
Our students graduate with hearts geared toward service and skills developed to succeed in college.
