TOMAS NIDO
Florida State University - Baseball
Tomas Nido, a senior catcher at Orangewood Christian School in Maitland, Florida has been named by the staff at Collegiate Baseball as a First Team Pre-Season Louisville Slugger Baseball All American. Nido is considered one of the top high school catchers in the country and has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at Florida State University in the Fall. In 2011, Tomas broke the Central Florida single season homerun record with 17 homeruns, posted a .577 batting average, and had 64 RBI. He was instrumental in leading the 2011 Rams to a FHSAA 2A State Runner-up finish and his 17 homeruns led a team that broke the Florida High School homerun record for a single season with 83 homeruns. This past fall, Tomas was chosen by the Puerto Rico Olympic Committee to participate in the Pan American Junior Baseball Tournament held in Cartagena, Columbia.
DAVID LOWREY
Elon University - Football
David Lowrey, a senior wide receiver on the Rams varsity football team, has chosen to play football next season at Elon University in Elon, North Carolina as a preferred walk-on. Lowrey led Central Florida, in all 8 FHSAA classifications, with 14 touchdowns this season, was second in receiving yards with 954, and averaged 23.3 yards a catch. This season he had over 1700 all purpose yards with a total of 22 touchdowns. For his career at Orangewood, David had 3,923 all purpose yards and 52 touchdowns. Additionally, he carries over a 4.0 grade point average, is a member of the National Honor Society, and plays centerfield on the Rams baseball team that were State Semi-Finalists in 2010 and State Runner-Up in 2011.
