School Picture Retakes
Student and class pictures have been taken. If you did not return the pre-order form sent home with your child it is not too late to order pictures. Call LifeTouch at 407-982-1278 or 1-800-892-0150. Students needing retakes or those that missed picture day can have their picture taken on Monday, October 17th.
Yearbooks on Sale
The 2012 RamPages yearbook is on sale now. Order now through October 28 and receive the early bird price of $60. After October 28 the books will be sold at their regular price of $70. After the order is placed, please make sure you keep your receipt in a safe place until distribution day.

New Substitute Teacher Orientation and Training
There will be a new substitute teacher orientation and training on Wednesday, September 28th for all those interested in substitute teaching at Orangewood Christian School. The orientation will take place from 8:15 – 9:00 AM in the Lower School Media Center (1221 Trinity Woods Lane, Maitland, FL 32751).Come receive forms, learn the application process, tour the campus, meet peers and receive answers to any questions you may have. We ask that all those who are interested in substituting for the first time in the upcoming 2011-2012 school year be present at this orientation. You will be able to choose the days you work as well as the campus and grade of your choice.
Flu Shots
Centra Care will be providing flu shots at OCS on Wednesday, October 5th from 11:30 AM-5:00 PM. The cost is $25.00. This is open to anyone. Faculty, students, parents, siblings, etc. Students must be accompanied by a parent.Eat Out and Give Back
4Rivers Smokehouse, 2103 W. Fairbanks Ave., has kicked off its giveback program. Eat at 4Rivers the first Monday of each month and they will donate 10 percent of their sales to OCS.

Purchase a full page, ½ page, or quarter page to honor your senior with pictures and a special message for him/her in our school's yearbook. It is a wonderful way to celebrate your student and his/her accomplishments.To purchase a senior recognition ad- fill out the attached form, include payment made to OCS, and drop off at any school office. Once payment is received, you will be emailed instructions on how to send the content for your ad. Pictures and personal messages are due in October.

Soul'd Out MS Leadership Program
We had a great turn out for our Soul'D Out Leadership kickoff last Wednesday! Forty-seven of our middle school students listened to the outline of our leadership program for 2011-2012. National Honor Society Tutors
OCS’s National Honor Society students are available for tutoring students for free. If you are interested in finding a tutor for your student, please contact our NHS sponsor Patti Shivers at pshivers@orangewoodchristian.org. Fall Book Fair
Get ready for this year’s Christian Book Fair coming to our school September 26th – 30th in the lower school Media Center! There will be something for everyone at this event—from preschool through adult—biographies, novels, videos, coloring and activity books, self-help and parenting books and much more!The first days will be “looking days” for the students. As each class visits the book fair, the students will complete a book wish list to take home to their parents. September 29th – 30th are “buying days”. Send the book list and a check made payable to Sonshine Harbor Books (please remember to include 6.5% sales tax) to school with your child on any buying day. Parents are welcome to visit the library to buy books any day between 8:00 and 4:30. Remember, our school receives 50% of the Sonshine Harbor Book Fair sales for our library. What better way to get good reading materials to improve your child’s reading skills and contribute to our library at the same time.

Talk Time Speech Screenings
During the week of September 26th we are offering speech screenings for grades K –2nd. Shannon Osborn, owner and speech pathologist, will be on campus to provide this for our student body. This is a FREE screening for students in kindergarten. Typically, the screenings take 15 to 20 minutes. If you do not want your child to participate, please notify your student’s teacher or Megan Wagner in the front office. In grades 1 -2 this screening will be offered for $15.00. Your child’s teacher will be providing a sign up form and developmental questionnaire. Please make checks payable to Talk Time. If you have any questions, please call the front office. Usually feedback is given within 48 hours of the screening.
