Junior Thespians ROCK State!
The Junior Thespians had a very successful day at the State Junior Thespian Festival on Saturday, February 3, at the Orange County Convention Center. Our troupe took a total of 9 events to the State Festival.  Out of those 9 events we took home 6 Superiors and 3 Excellents! Not only that, but 8th grader Callie Evans received Honorable Mention for her monologue! We are so proud of these hard working Thespians for having such a successful year!

Maitland Rotary Student of the Month | Noah Partlow

Congratulations Noah Partlow!  Noah was selected as the OCS 8th grade Maitland Rotary “Student of the Month”.  He was honored this month at the Maitland Rotary Club’s monthly breakfast.  Throughout the year our 8th grade teachers are given the opportunity to select an 8th grade student to represent OCS based on a variety of criteria, including community and church involvement, extracurricular activities, character and academics.

"Beauty and the Beast Jr." | February 28-March 2

Our Middle and Lower School students will tell the classic story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR. is an inspiring, musical adaptation of this story of transformation and tolerance.

Tickets: Adult $10/Student $8 *Maximum $25/immediate family

DON'T MISS our "Beauty and the Beast Tea Party" for ages 3-11. Friday, March 2nd, 5:45-6:45pm in the Upper School courtyard. Come dressed as your favorite prince or princess! Tickets are $15 and includes admission to the Tea Party, snacks, activities, pictures with the cast, including Belle and the Prince, and one student ticket to the performance. Parents may attend the Tea Party for free, but will need to purchase a ticket for the performance.

Tickets for the performances and Tea Party can be purchased at the LS and US offices. Questions: Contact Laura Nelson Kelly at lkelly@ocsrams.org.

Academic help available for Middle School students!

Middle School teachers are generally available (unless they have a duty) at break (10:30am-10:45am), lunch (12:30pm-1:05pm) and after school (until 3:30pm) to provide academic help to our students.  After school tutoring is also available; please click this link for information for specific classes & teacher availability.

We are also excited to partner with our High School National Honor Society students to offer an after-school tutoring center open to ALL Middle School students!  The tutoring center is available every Thursday afternoon (when school is in session) in Mrs. Rushing's classroom (MS 213) from 3:00pm until 4:00pm.  There is no charge this service.  Students may receive help in ANY subject!  We hope our families will encourage your students to take advantage of this opportunity for extra academic help.

Let's Chat Live Parenting Series

Parents, please mark your calendars for our “Let’s Chat ‘Live’” series this semester.  The theme is The Family System -- Knowing How to Navigate Yours!  As always, we meet in the mornings (8:00-9:15) in The Space and a light breakfast and coffee is provided.

March 1st:  Ryan Casada and Olivia Litwiller (Licensed Mental Health Counselors at Journey’s Counseling in Maitland) plan to help us understand each member of the system individually.  Specifically, they will use the Enneagram personality test and the variety of ways we blend together as families.  Where are you running into snags and how can you better understand how we affect each other?

April 5th:  This month we hope to shed light on “The Hidden Child.” This is the child who is silent and nearly invisible. It’s tempting as parents to let that sleeping dog simply lie! And yet it’s essentially important that we understand what has caused her to disappear and how to best draw her out.
