Box Tops Collection Day – Tuesday, Nov. 13th

Our next collection date for Box Tops is Tuesday, November 13th. Please make sure that your baggie of box tops is marked clearly with the student’s first and last name and homeroom teacher’s name and grade. The top overall teacher will receive a Starbucks drink and the class will receive a Donut Party. The top 3 students will get a dress down coupon to be used any time this year (except field trip days). The top overall student will get a Target gift card.

Red Bag Food Drive results - DRESS DOWN DAY on Tues., Nov. 13th

Student council held a Red Bag Food Drive for Hamilton Elementary School and it was a huge success! We were able to provide an abundance of canned goods for these families. Well done OCS students and families for driving out hunger in our community! In appreciation for all your service, and for all of the amazing canned good structures that you built, we will observe a DRESS DOWN DAY on Tuesday, November 13th for all students in K4-6th grade.

Dress down guidelines - No tank tops, halter tops, camis or spaghetti straps will be allowed. Shirts, blouses, and dresses must have either collars or sleeves. No midriffs showing. Athletic or closed shoes only (sandals or backless shoes are not permitted). Shorts/skorts/skirts/dresses must be longer than 4 inches above the middle of the knee. Jeans are permitted (no holes, rips or frays). Skirts, shorts, and pants must be hemmed. Jeans must be loose fitting.

Moonlight Madness Basketball 5-on-5 Scrimmage – Nov. 15 6:00-8:00 PM

Please see the attached link to register for the elementary 5-on-5 basketball scrimmage event being hosted at the OCS main campus gym on November 15th from 6-8 PM. The cost is $10 and includes a t-shirt and basketball game participation. The deadline for registering is Wednesday, Nov. 14th. Checks may be made out to OCS Basketball and returned to Coach Matt Ruta/OCS Baskeball. Link

Rams Love Reading Book Drive – Nov. 12- Dec. 15th

6th Grader Jenna White will be leading a book drive on the Lower School campus to benefit the Orlando Children’s Church mission and possibly another local school that are in need of books for their libraries. Books and donations may be brought to the front office and students can watch a Christmas tree be built with the books in the LS Media Center. Students may donate new books, lightly used books or money to buy books.


Pink Out Day for Kids Beating Cancer Raised $1103

Thank you to all who participated in our OCS Pink Out Day! We raised $1103 to help fight cancer. All of the change that was donated will make a change in the lives of children fighting this disease!


Childrens Wagons Needed 
We are in need of 8 childrens wagons for the December 8th Winter Park Parade. If you have one we can borrow from November 26th - December 8th we would appreciate you emailing Mrs. Dawn Miller at dmiller@ocsrams.org . We will make sleighs out of them but will return them back to you in great shape. 


6th Grade Parents – NEW DATE! PLEASE READ! | 7th Grade Parent Preview Night

ALL 6th grade parents are invited to Join Mr. Austin, Middle School Principal, and the Middle School Faculty on Thursday, DECEMBER 6 (** NEW DATE **) for our "7th Grade Parent Preview Night" at 6:30pm.  We'll meet in rooms 260/261 at the Upper Campus (directional signs will be posted).  Come hear about the exciting opportunities that await your child in Middle School at OCS!  We're looking forward to sharing information about our programs and initiatives with you!  Watch your e-mail for a Sign-Up Genius invitation to RSVP.


Christmas Parents Day Out – Saturday, December 1st 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM Link

The OCS High School Choir will be hosting a Parents Day Out on Saturday, December 1st. The cost is $25 for the first child and $15 for each additional child. OCS students and their siblings, ages three to 6th grade (children must be potty-trained) may attend. This will take place on the OCS Lower School campus. There will be crafts, games, cookie decorating, Christmas movies, and a Christmas Shoppe for your children to buy gifts! Please contact Laura Kelly at lkelly@ocsrams.org for more information. Holiday Camps:  November 19-21; December 20-21, 27-28, and January 2.

We are pleased to offer Holiday camps for K-6th graders during the Thanksgiving break from November 19-21.  Camp times are from 7:30am-5:30pm and include a daily field trip.  The fee is $65 per student per day.  To register, please email Sarah Powell at spowell@ocsrams.org. ****DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS TODAY (November 12th). Looking ahead, Holiday camp days will also be offered over Christmas break on December 20-21, 27-28, and January 2nd.

OCS Thanksgiving Basketball Skills Clinic -  November 19-20, 9 AM – 12PM.

This is an elementary basketball clinic run by Orangewood Basketball Coaching staff and the Varsity basketball players. Typing Club

We just wanted to remind you that the Typing Club goals are due November 16th! Students have been doing a great job typing in class and we want to encourage students to continue working on their typing at home to help meet goals. If  2nd-3rd grade students are in need of their log-ins, parents, please email Anne Lewis at alewis@ocsrams.org. 4th-6th grade students can access their typing club accounts using their OCS Google email and password. Remember that students need to go to https://ocsrams.typingclub.com to access their accounts!

Christmas Trees and Wreaths sale – order deadline extended to Nov. 12 Link

The OCS High School choir is taking orders for Christmas trees and wreaths through November 12th. Please fill out the attached form, attach payment and turn it in to Mrs. Laura Kelly through the Lower School front office. If you have questions, please email Lnelson@ocsrams.org. Trees and wreaths will be available for pick up Nov. 24 and Nov. 25 at 1173 N. Orlando Ave.

Congratulations to the 6th Grade Chalk Art Winners!

On Saturday, November 3rd, Robyn Stephens and Hannah Jones participated in the Winter Park Chalk Art competition. They selected the piece “Alfresco de Di Cavalcanti after Emiliano di Cavalcanti” to recreate in chalk and were given only seven hours to complete their masterpiece. Robyn and Hannah each won a plaque and a $25 gift card!

New soccer program at OCS link

Starting in the spring, the Lower School soccer program will be transitioning from using ACYS to using GPS.  You will also see GPS coaches helping out with both the MS and Varsity Girls soccer teams. Please see the attached link for more information.

Mothers In Prayer Link

Come and experience the joy of praying for your child and our school. Moms In Prayer gathers to pray every Tuesday Morning, 8:00 - 9:00 am. We follow the “ACTS” pattern – Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication (Intercession).

Medication Release Form: Link 

Many times we are asked for Tylenol, aspirin etc. We cannot give this to students unless we have a signed authorization form from your child’s physician. Please send the form and the bottle of medication to the school in order for us to administer to your child during the school day.

PTF Lower School Informational  Meetings – Jan. 10th 8-9:00 AM and 3:30-4:30 PM

This year the lower school is holding a meeting each marking period to share what is happening in the school. Our lower school PTF leader, Amanda Classon, will be leading the meetings. At least one OCS administration member will also be available for questions and answers during that time also. Aftercare childcare will be available at no charge for the OCS students whose parents are attending the after school meetings.

The same information will be presented at both the 8:00 AM meetings and the 3:30 PM meetings so choose the best time for your family. We look forward to having you join us for these informational meetings!
