Saturday, February 4, 2017 over 16 teams of Central Florida kids participated in FIRST Lego League Qualifying Tournament at Orangewood.
FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) programs are geared to get kids excited about science and technology through robotics, and teach them valuable employment and life skills. FIRST LEGO League is a program for kids ages 9 to 16. All yearly Challenges are based on a real-world topic that is universally relevant, this year’s challenge is Animal Allies and tasks kids with thinking about hear interactions with animals and creating innovative solutions that make those interactions better for animals, people or both.
The Challenge has three parts: the Robot Game, the Project, and Core Values. The Robot Game helps kids hone their programming, engineering, and math skills by designing and programming an autonomous robot using a LEGO® MINDSTORMS® robot kit to perform missions on a thematic playing surface.
