A Message from OCS Lower School Principal
At Orangewood Christian School, we believe that each child is a unique creation of God. We believe that all students can learn and succeed in a loving environment where expectations are high.
OCS is a very special place that provides individualized attention, nurturing teachers, and strong academics. We provide our students an educational foundation based on a Christian worldview, along with opportunities to make lifelong friends and memories.
Children see God’s handiwork in every aspect of His creation as discoveries are made in our science labs. Our math program includes hands-on, active learning activities that encourage mathematical thinking and strong computational skills. Students develop literary skills through a phonics-based reading program that emphasizes quality literature, reading comprehension, writing, spelling, and grammar. In social studies classes, our students learn about current events, world culture and geography, and American history. We hope to encourage an awareness of world missions and contemporary culture that will prepare students to impact the world for Christ.
Orangewood’s goal is to teach the "whole child" by also providing instruction in art, music, physical education, Spanish, technology, and library/research. Students learn to effectively use technology and the Internet in order to be prepared to function in a technologically advanced society. Field trips and special projects create continuing interest in all subject areas. Each class chooses several community service activities to complete throughout the year. After school activities include drama, voice, piano, and organized team sports.
We are committed to partnering with parents in preparing children of all learning styles for the challenges of life. Our hallmark is academic excellence taught from a Biblical worldview in a warm and nurturing environment. We welcome the opportunity to meet with you and show what our God is doing at Orangewood Christian School.
