WELCOME
The fine arts are a integral
component of the overall OCS program. Our fine arts classes are designed
to meet the needs of both students who plan a future career in the arts
and for students who want to include the arts as part of their academic
program.
OCS fine arts are an integrated K-12th grade approach that includes:
drama, graphics arts, thespians, band, vocal music, drawing, painting,
choir, jazz & pep bands, video production, ceramics, Broadway, private
instruction, solo, and ensemble work.
Our fine arts team functions with a three faceted mission:
Competency - Through preparing for regional and state completions,
students master
various competency levels in the subject.
Individual student development – Classes and activities are designed to
allow any student at
any level to engage in a class and develop his/her
skills. Our teachers work with students as
individuals to help them
progress and achieve their personal goals. Our desire is for students
at
all levels to enjoy the arts and develop their skills.
Performance
- Students regularly have opportunities to use their gifts
and skills to entertain
audiences - from concerts to sidewalk art shows,
to full stage productions, to performing for
residents of a nursing
home, to pep bands, to theme parks, to one acts, to video. The focus
of
our performances is to use the arts to entertain, communicate, and touch
people's lives.
