DAVID PITTS

Orangewood Christian School is fortunate to have Mr. David Pitts serving as Athletic Director in his fifth year and David is thrilled every day to be a part of the Orangewood Christian School family.  David said, “Being the Athletic Director for Orangewood Christian School is an amazing opportunity to provide Christ-like leadership to our students, coaches, and faculty.”  David earned his undergraduate degree from Liberty University in 2002.  While at Liberty, he realized his passion for coaching.

David brings to OCS a strong and successful academic and business background with a passion for athletics.  He has served as head coach for basketball, tennis, football, baseball, and golf at high school and middle school levels.  He has taught physical education, U.S government, psychology, and social studies including multiple AP courses in North Carolina and at Apopka High School. 


KRISTEN MCDONALD 

ASSISTANT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

Kristen McDonald has worked at Orangewood Christian School in various roles since 2004, and this will be her sixth year as Assistant Athletic Director. Kristen graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Commercial Recreation and Event Planning.  Before working at Orangewood, she was involved in planning sporting events such as Golf Tournaments at UF and the NBA Jams All-Star Weekend in Philadelphia, PA.  She currently sits on the board for a local non-profit, Give Hope Foundation, and is involved in planning their annual gala which raises money for families that have children battling pediatric cancer.  Kristen’s 14+ years of wedding and event planning has prepared her for this job that requires attention to detail, logistics and most importantly, forming relationships with OCS students and their families. 


JD CHAPLAIN

ATHLETIC OPERATIONS ASSISTANT

This will be Chaplain’s second year at Orangewood Christian School. As the Athletic Operations Assistant, Chaplain will be maintaining the athletic fields, as well as assisting with daily athletic operations. JD and his wife, Carmen, moved from Asheville, North Carolina where they both worked at Asheville Christian Academy (ACA). During his time at ACA, Chaplain served as the Field Turf Manager as well as the Head Baseball Coach. Chaplain played a large factor in taking the ACA program from a sub .500 program to a contender in the playoffs each season. In 2018, his team made a quarterfinals appearance. Before his time at ACA, Chaplain attended Brevard College where he was a member of the Tornado baseball team. Chaplain was named the South Atlantic Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year his senior year. While in school he served as President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for two years. The athletic department is thrilled to have JD Chaplain on their staff.
