ART CAMPS


Clay Kids
Taught by Britteny Hamilton
Dates:  July 26-30
Times:  1:00pm-4:00pm
Grades: K-2nd coed
Fee:     $125

Description:  
Students will be pinching, coiling and working with a variety of tools to mold fun ceramic pieces that parents and students will be able to keep for many years to come. We will be creating 2 – 3 pieces a day that will be both functional and decorative. Students will also explore painting with different mediums.

Creative Kids
Taught by Britteny Hamilton

Grades: K-2nd coed
Fee:     $85 on or before April 1st/$125 after

Description:  Young boys and girls will be exploring different artistic styles, methods and techniques using different mediums like paint, crayon, oil pastel and pencil. Students will be creating still-lifes, landscapes, figurative art as well as exploring the imagination.   The students will be taking home several completed works of art to show proudly at home.


Computer Camp
Taught by Anne Lewis
Dates:  July 12-16
Times:  1:00pm-4:00pm
Grades: 4th-6th coed
Fee:     $85 on or before April 1st/$125 after

Description:  Lights! Camera! Action! Produce a movie using Movie Maker.  Learn how to plan, film and edit a video that includes effects, transitions, text overlays, sound clips, and narration.

Course Objectives:
    •  plan a storyboard by sketching each scene
    •  work cooperatively in a production team
    •  use a camera to capture a variety of action shots
    •  identify basic parts of Windows Movie Maker
    •  isolate a frame by clicking and dragging the play head
    •  split a clip into two pieces and delete frames
    •  edit clips to add transitions, effects, and text overlays
    •  add a title clip and a credit clip
    •  narrate action sequences and add sound track
    •  save a project as a Windows Media Player file

Dancing with the Rams
Taught by Aimee Allen
Dates:    August 2-6
Times:    1:00pm-4:00pm
Grades:  Incoming 1st-6th coed
Fee:        $125.00

Description:  Culture in Dance Youth Ballroom Program:  A mix of Ballroom, Hip Hop, and Jazz.
The class will include a warm-up, stretching, and flexibility exercises as well as technique drills and choreography.  There will be performance opportunities for your young dancers to show off their new skills at the end of the camp!


Digital Art

Dates:  June 28-July 2

Grades: 3rd-5th coed
Fee:     $85 on or before April 1st/$125 after

Description:  We will explore making art with the computer as one of the most exciting creative tools.  Students will work individually and collaboratively on a series of projects that integrate traditional art media (painting, drawing and collage) into digital media (digital photography, photo manipulation and animation).  The computer lab is equipped with the latest software, Adobe Photoshop, used by professional photographers, artists and graphic designers.


Drawing and Painting
Taught by Bob Earll

Grades: 3rd-adult coed
Fee:     $125 on or before April 1st/$135 after

Description:  Art students will use a variety of mediums such as watercolors, gouache, and acrylic paints.  Students will explore different styles and methods of painting as well to create several finished works to be proudly exhibited in any home.  Art students will also improve their basic skills in drawing various objects using different mediums (pencil, colored pencil, oil pastel, conte, and charcoal) and then how to use composition to make a more complex drawing.  Students will explore the drawing of still-lifes, landscapes, figurative and architecture.


Everyone Should Play with Clay
Taught by Bob Earll
Dates:  June 14-18, June 26-30
Times:  9:00am-12:00pm
Grades: 3rd-adult coed
Fee:     $150 on or before April 1st/$160 after

Description:  Art students will create clay artwork in a variety of methods from throwing on the wheel to creating hand-built ceramic pieces.   Artists will create an average of three works per day from functional to decorative ceramic pieces.  Students will need to schedule an extra session to come back for glazing and finalizing their fired artwork.


Beginning Photography
Taught by Rhonda Yetman
Dates:  July 19-23
Times:  9:00am-12:00pm
Grades: incoming 5th-8th coed
Fee:     $125 on or before April 1st/$135 after

Description:  Together we will spend a week becoming better photographers.   We will learn about our camera features and the terminology that goes along with it.   We will take a lot of pictures, exploring flash photography, portraits, landscapes, and candid photography.

We will discuss composition, lighting, and camera angle:  how these things contribute to better photographs.  We will learn simple editing and then publish our own photo book with many of the pictures that we take during the week.  You will need to provide your own camera (at least 5 mega pixel) with photo card (at least 1 g of memory), a flash drive (at least 1 g memory), a card reader adapter, or USB cord, to download pictures to computer, and a notebook.


Piano
Dates:  June 28-July 2
Times:  9:00am-12:00pm
Grades: 1st-2nd coed
Fee:     $125 on or before April 1st/$135 after

Description:  This camp is for beginners who have never had piano lessons but want to learn.  Students must have a keyboard or a piano at home to practice.  The last day will culminate with an “informance” (not quite a performance!).


Piano
Dates:  June 28-July 2
Times:  1:00pm-4:00pm
Grades: 3rd-5th coed
Fee:     $125 on or before April 1st/$135 after

Description:  This camp is for the beginner or experienced pianist.   Students must have a keyboard or a piano at home to practice.   The last day will culminate with a performance.

Introduction to Sewing
Taught by Janelle Creme

Dates:  June 28-July 2
Times:  9:00am-12:00pm
Grades: 3rd-12th coed
Fee:     $85 on or before April 1st/$125 after

Description:  Students will be introduced to sewing through several small projects. They will learn hand-sewing and basic sewing machine skills. The culminating project will be a pillow.
